Past & Present
Cosmo is a contemporary British artist, who has spent the last 30 years working across painting, drawing, Film, TV, Graphic design and digital media. He began drawing and painting while living in Scotland, where he went on to complete a Master of Arts at St Andrews University. In the 90s and early 2000s, Cosmo began working in the independent film industry, experimenting also with graphic design, where he ran a team of graphic designers creating film posters across pre-production, production and theatrical campaigns.
As well as London, he has lived and worked in Edinburgh, London, Paris and New York. It was living on Avenue B in Manhattan's lower East side with his family, that formed one of the core inspirations to his first solo exhibitions in the East End of London and Victoria, Gozo. Charcoal seemed the most appropriate medium to capture the contrasts of towering buildings opening up onto water. The black on white and the soft and hard texture of the charcoal, create a vivid effect of contrasts, shapes and tones, portraying our continual attempt to find our natural sense of place amongst ever changing horizons.
Cosmo’s drawings and paintings have continued to evolve into a free flowing fusion of various media, experimenting with combining charcoal and paint. He is currently working on a series of new exhibitions in 2026 and 2027 inspired by the mysteries surrounding key Sacred Sites of the world.
